Muriel Biner, Village Manager
Muriel knows how to look after people well, having begun her working life as a flight attendant with Ansett Airlines. A range of other roles, including over 10 years with Australia’s largest group of retirement villages, has helped her gain a great deal of experience working with people. All of these roles have given her the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure The Village Coorparoo is run effectively and efficiently, while building a strong rapport with residents, their families and other staff.
Ric Cohen, Sales Manager
With over 25 years experience in the retirement village industry, Ric Cohen is one of the most experienced Queenslanders in his field. Having joined us in early 2006 at The Village on the Downs in Toowoomba, Ric has gone on to senior sales roles at our Villages at Yeronga, Coorparoo and Taigum. Ric has an inherent interest in people, and takes the time to understand his clients’ circumstances and requirements.
During his time at The Village Retirement Group, Ric has worked closely with the senior management team to ensure The Village properties avoid the industry trend towards corporatisation.
Helen Hill Smith, Sales Associate
Helen has an accomplished career, including 18 years as an aircraft engineer and nine years owning and operating one of Brisbane’s most well-known CBD restaurants. Her time in hospitality particularly has ensured that Helen has a unwavering commitment to customer service and ensuring that people have the best possible experience when they interact with her.

Marni Gillett, Receptionist
Marni plays a vital role in our Administration team at The Village Coorparoo. She’s the first face that everyone sees when they visit the Administration Office. She can juggle phone calls, resident enquiries while assisting with the many activities run by The Village. She brings a wealth of experience in administration and event management, having worked as an Events Co-ordinator for large busy companies in the past.
Harriet Baker, Administration Assistant
Hailing from near Plymouth in Devon, Harriet looks after the day to day accounts at The Village.
Her previous experience, both as an administrator at an IT firm in London and as a Chief Stewardess on super yachts in the Mediterranean, has prepared her well for the variety and unpredictability of working in The Village.
Phil McGregor, Groundsman
Phil’s work life has spanned many sectors – from hospitality to telecommunications to working as a police liaison officer. Needing a ‘sea change’ he started his own landscaping/gardening business where he worked for The Public Trustee of Queensland and various shopping centres. After taking on a role as ‘special projects’ gardener for a major retirement village, Phil has now settled into his role at The Village Coorparoo.
